INTERESTED IN JOINING THE SCUGOG CHAMBER BOARD OF DIRECTORS?
The Scugog Chamber of Commerce has opened its search for our new Board of Directors. These Directors will be sworn in officially at our AGM in March however will begin their duties as of Jan 1, 2024. Except for federal, provincial, regional, or municipal employees or elected officials, all active members in good standing and accepting our Code of Conduct are eligible to nominate or be nominated to serve as a Director.
Our Board of Directors represents a diverse section of businesses and organizations in the Township of Scugog. Serving on the SCC board is considered an excellent opportunity to assist the chamber in fulfilling its mandate for 2024 and beyond. All Directors are expected to commit appropriate time and effort to give the proper attention to their responsibilities as a Board Member, including preparing for and attending monthly Board of Directors meetings among other things. The SCC has committees such as the Executive Committee, Event Committee, and Membership Committee, of which you may be asked to sit on and provide oversight. The SCC Board of Directors is a strategic board and directors are expected to take a senior leadership role in directing our current & future state.
To ensure we have an ideal Board of Directors, we strive to have diverse representation in both skills, and abilities. In particular, expertise or interest in the following is considered an asset.
• Finance
• Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
• Law
• Human Resources
• Policy & Governance
• Owner/operator of small or medium business
Our by-laws require our Board of Directors to participate in an annual election process. The Scugog Chamber of Commerce shall consist of a minimum of (10) directors. The elected members shall be presented to the membership Annual General Meeting for a one (1) or (2) year term. This year we have 6 positions available to be filled for a 2 YEAR TERM.

To be nominated for a position on the Board of Directors, please submit your completed nomination form to kalarge@scugogchamber.ca.
Nominations must be received no later than Friday November 10th, 2023.
