The Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance (CSTA), in cooperation with Durham Tourism, BACD, and the City of Oshawa are pleased to announce the fifth in a series of regional sport tourism workshops. This project is made possible through a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The CSTA will bring sport event, tourism and economic development experts together with community officials to share knowledge and experiences and to provide training on the CSTA’s leading edge industry tools. Sport tourism is the fastest growing grassroots economic development initiative in Canada today, with approximately $2.4 billion in annual domestic spending.
This interactive workshop is designed to build capacity at the local level and help our community become more actively involved in the sport tourism industry.
Topics will include:
• Introduction to Sport Tourism
• Developing a Local Sport Tourism Strategy
• A Town Hall working lunch designed to address specific challenges and issues commonly encountered at the community level
• Building a Successful Bid
• Sport Tourism Economic Assessment Model (STEAM) training session.

The CME has launched a new funding program to help small and medium-sized manufacturers in Ontario improve their productivity so they can compete more effectively in the global economy. They are looking to fund productivity improving projects such as lean design and lean manufacturing, quality improvement, energy efficiency, IT best practices, and environmental impact reduction. They'll support the best projects proposed, with 50% funding up to $50,000. The money is being funded from MEDT and CME is the agent/administrator of the program. (
