ALL CANDIDATES FORUM 

SEPTEMBER 23, 2010

 

The Scugog Chamber of Commerce is the voice for businesses in Scugog and will be hosting an “All Candidates Forum” at the Port Perry Villa.  

The event will take place on Thursday, September 23, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with members of the public,  business community and selected media.  Seating will be on a first come bases. 

Mayoral and Regional candidates will be given the opportunity to present their platform on issues that are of strategic significance to our businesses and community as a whole.

Each candidate will have an opportunity to make opening remarks (two minutes each) prior to the question period and closing remarks (two minutes each) at the conclusion of the discussion. Questions from the panel and the audience may be directed to either individual candidate.  The facilitator for the evening will be Paul Arculus.

Pre-qualified questions, filled out by our citizens and business community will be presented during this Forum.  To put your questions to paper please go to the Chamber’s website to up-load the question form, or stop into the Scugog Chamber of Commerce at 181 Perry Street Unit G-3 to pick up a hard copy.  Drop off your questions no later than Sept 15th in time for the Forum.

"Business for Breakfast"

The Scugog Chamber of Commerce networking “Business for Breakfast” for September will be held on Thursday, September 30th, 2010 at Emmanuel Community Church.

The Scugog Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Dr. John Stewart, a member of the Medical Associates of Port Perry, who will be speaking on “The next five years of health care in Scugog”.

“Dr. John Stewart graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1972, and has been in family practice in Port Perry since 1975. Presently, his practice includes a full range of general practice and also includes obstetrics, nursing home care, teaching and research. He has been actively involved in guideline development and teaching -- especially in the area of antibiotic use, lipids and diabetes. He has been a member of numerous Advisory Boards both on a local, national and international level.”  - Medical Associates of Port Perry

The breakfast will be held at Emmanuel Community Church, 1680 Reach Street, Port Perry. Registration is at 7:30am, “Business for Breakfast” will start at 7:45.  Tickets are available at a cost of $15.00 per person for members and $18.00 per person for non-members which includes breakfast.

Reservations are required Tuesday, Sept 28, 2010.  There will be no tickets sold at the door. Reservations may be canceled up to 48 hours in advance of the meeting.  We regret we must invoice those who fail to cancel in advance to cover preparation costs for the caterers.
